Reporting to the Senior Category Manager, Access Networks Services the Category Associate position is a role within the Procurement and Supplier Management department.  The successful candidate will work closely with Business Clients to meet their needs in a timely fashion while helping them manage total cost of ownership and risk. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the delivery of savings targets in line with the savings methodology. He/she will support the development and execution of Category Strategies. Experience with Wireless and/or Cable Access Networks implementation and maintenance services is highly desirable. Knowledge of sourcing and contracts is preferred.


What you'll be doing:

  • Supports delivery of category strategy, spend and saving targets
  • Provides inputs into the savings methodology process
  • Provides category cost insights, cost modeling and reference costs to support the development of a TCO reduction strategy for the category
  • Helps resolve issues that could have an impact on the Category Strategies
  • Supports the negotiation and conclusion of contracts with suppliers by working with Legal and internal stakeholders to ensure business requirements are met
  • Responsible for managing relationships with and monitoring performance of key suppliers
  • Ensures key supplier performance and relationships are optimized by working with Supplier Management teams where appropriate and required
  • Champions Procurement and Supplier Management as a great place to work across Rogers internally and externally, including the identification, development and rotation of capable resources
  • Always striving to define innovative Category strategies
  • Executes assigned performance improvements on specific opportunities identified within category with the support of Supplier Management
  • Has ability to effectively influence stakeholders and external suppliers


What you have:

  • University/post-secondary degree required
  • Has at least 1-2 years relevant experience of working in the telecom industry preferably in a wireless access network rollout role, or managing a network category in a procurement setting
  • Has experience in delivering presentations to executives and is able to achieve desired results through influencing capabilities
  • A track record of delivering challenging targets
  • Strong business acumen with solid analytic skills and conceptual thinking
  • Is able to develop business cases and formulate recommendations both written and verbally to influence decisions
  • Proven analytical and problem solving skills are required, as well as excellent attention to accuracy and detail
  • Experience of participating in negotiations and contractual agreements
  • Proven ability to work in a fast-paced, changing environment.
  • Solid working knowledge of Microsoft Office products (i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint)\
  • Educated to MBA / Degree level in a business related subject or equivalent industry experience
  • Relevant role in another telecom operator is an advantage or a comparative role in another industry
  • Technical knowledge of Wireless and/or Cable Access Networks
