Reporting to the Category Manager, IP Core - Transport Optical and Voice/Data Delivery Platforms, the Category Lead position is a role within the Procurement and Supplier Management department.  The successful candidate will work closely with Business Partners to meet their needs in a timely fashion while helping them manage total cost of ownership and risk while supporting the delivery of savings targets in line with the savings methodology and maintain key supplier relationships.

 

What you’ll doing:

  • Leading the development of, agreement to, and execution of Category Strategies.
  • Leading and ensuring delivery of category strategy, spend and saving targets
  • Leading and owning relationships at with key Category Suppliers
  • Providing input into the savings methodology process and sets, maintains and reports against annual targets
  • Leading negotiation and conclusion of contracts with suppliers over major agreements working with Legal and internal stakeholders to ensure business requirements are met
  • Accountable for managing relationships with and monitoring performance of key suppliers
  • Responsible for defining innovative Category strategies
  • Responsible for input into Category savings model
  • Responsible for the achievement of defined goals and objectives including:
    • Saving targets
    • Working Capital Improvements
    • Percentage of addressable spend engaged

 

What you’ll need:

  • University / post-secondary degree required
  • Three (3) years relevant experience working in the telecom industry preferably in Network IP Core and related Security Platform equipment and technologies role (vendor or operator), or leading a Network IP Core category in a procurement setting
  • Extensive experience in delivering presentations to C-level executives and is able to achieve desired results through influencing capabilities
  • A track record of delivering challenging targets
  • Strong business acumen with solid analytic skills and conceptual thinking
  • Proven ability in developing business cases and formulating recommendations both written and verbally to influence decisions
  • Proven analytical and problem solving skills are required, as well as excellent attention to accuracy and detail
  • Experience of leading negotiations and contractual agreements
  • Proven ability to work in a fast-paced, changing environment
  • Solid working knowledge of Microsoft Office products (i.e., Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Technical knowledge of Network IP Core and related Security Platform equipment and technologies
  • eSourcing tools such as Ariba
