The Category Manager, Software (Consultant) will be a senior role within the Procurement and Supplier Management department and will report to the Senior Category Manager of IT. The Category Manager, Software (Consultant) will be responsible for setting savings targets with a Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) mindset for the spend category and be accountable to working collaboratively with other groups within the Procurement and Supplier Management department and with Rogers’ business partners in IT and Finance to realize savings through market tenders and negotiations.

 

The Category Manager, Software (Consultant), will need to work across different pillars within the organization to corral and drive the overarching procurement point-of-view and to realize the desired outcomes. Additionally, The Category Manager, Software (Consultant), will cultivate a strong rapport with key senior technical, business and finance stakeholders / partners based on foundational trust, respect, collaboration, cooperation and help achieving their business objectives.

 

What you'll be doing:

  • Creating and maintaining comprehensive category strategies based on category historic spend, top suppliers, marketplace intelligence, new entrants, disruptors, issues, gaps, opportunities, innovations, new products, industry trends, competitive intelligence, commercial models, delivery models, best practices, business direction, budget requirements and other factors;
  • Taking full end-to-end ownership of the overarching and integrated spend category strategy to drive category transformation and short / medium / long term saving targets;
  • Acting as the primary interface to key category business stakeholders;
  • Providing category leadership and direction to business partners and the Sourcing & Supplier Management team;
  • Influencing the business with respect to gaining buy-in and alignment on the category strategy;
  • Driving relationships with key suppliers;
  • Identifying cost savings objectives for the category and driving the total cost of ownership reductions;
  • Aggregating demand to leverage Rogers’ scale and scope to drive standardization and cost savings.
  • Ensuring procurement cost saving challenges are built into the capital and operating budgets and Procurement’s projects and efforts are aligned to meet budget expectations;
  • Ensuring procurement projects and savings are tracked against the budget and targets;
  • Managing the analysis of spend data to assist with the identification of sourcing and cost take-out opportunities; and
  • Assisting in additional analytical related activities including but not limited to compliance, catalogue adoption rates, procurement metrics and dashboards, etc.

 

What you have:

  • Minimum 5 years of relevant work experience in the telecommunications or comparative industry
  • Knowledge of category, market trends, and impacts to cost structures
  • Successful candidate will have global experience (preferably with Tier One Carrier) leading and managing category and sourcing strategies, specifically with large software vendors, including but not limited to, Oracle, Amdocs, Salesforce, SAP, Redhat, and Microsoft.
  • Successful candidate will have experience leading and managing business partners through licence audits of vendors to determine continued category and sourcing strategies on approaching end of such licence/enterprise agreement term.
  • Successful candidate will have experience leading Procurement Enablement/Operations to build category classification around software area to improve analytics of spend and decision-making.

Schedule: Full Time
Salary Range: $121,800 to $260,000 per year
Per Diem Bonus: $300
Standard Hours: 37.50 per week
Shift: Day
Length of Contract: 12 Months

Travel Requirements: Up to 10%
