Job Summary:      


Promotes learning, increased independence and community involvement for adults with developmental disabilities. Support participants to engage in a wide range of activities in the community: recreation, music, volunteering, music and special events


Responsibilities


Provides client with education/skills training that will further independence and develop the opportunity for him/her to participate in community.


Plans and facilitates community-based activities that aid client with learning, increased independence and behaviour management.


Develops and implements individualized plans and activities designed to ensure that client's needs are met.


Through behaviour management, analyze situations and respond to them respectfully and effectively


Carries out personal care responsibilities


Communicate with other stakeholders and foster positive working relationship with staff


Qualifications .


A diploma in the Human Services Field or a related field or the equivalent education and experience is required for this position.


Experience and knowledge in the area of behaviour management and/or Crisis Intervention is a prerequisite.


Working knowledge of community based programs


Job Skills and Abilities            


demonstrated ability to provide non-aversive behavior management support


experience monitoring and evaluating the progress of participants


holds a valid CPR/First Aid certificate


Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Training


Additional Information:


This position requires Union membership.


Hours: Part time and casual, Monday to Friday


Wage rate: Starts at $17.47 per hour plus benefits (dental, extended health, LTD, Municipal Pension Plan)
