Rogers is seeking an IT Infrastructure Services Lead for Database Support to oversee database services provided to Rogers by our outsourcing partner. Reporting to the Senior Manager of Database Services at the Rogers Park Brampton Campus, this individual will build, manage and maintain strong relationships with our outsourcing partner and technical teams ensuring the database services are adhering to SLA’s and business expectations.

 

Key responsibilities of this role include:

  • Manage enterprise database support services on heterogeneous databases, ensure smooth and efficient operations within a very large, complex database environment
  • Provide strong technical knowledge and business subject matter expertize across a wide range of database technologies, platforms and business processes in order to prioritize the work effort and maintain high service levels to the business
  • Lead geographically dispersed vendor database support team to deliver high level of IT support
  • Focused on customer service, and puts the (internal) customer at the heart of the service management team and their work
  • Working closely with both the business and the IT department to maintain the effectiveness of current services.
  • Identify potential areas for service improvement and raise proposals with staekholders.
  • Coordinate service life-cycle processes, including the transition of new services into production, as well as helping to identify potential new services based on business input
  • Working closely with technical team leads, management, specialized IT areas and application support teams to ensure consistent delivery and quality of database services
  • Acting as a point of contact to facilitate effective communication and mutual understanding between business associates and IT associates.
  • Drive the creation of an environment that fosters continuous improvement in service management processes
  • Provide input to database/infrastructure scalability.
  • Lead service review meetings
  • Role requires strong technical knowledge across the entire technology stack but is mainly based on Oracle, Exadata , MS SQL Server & NoSQL Databases.
  • Take the lead on major incident resolution and communication; point of escalation for database and customer-service issues
  • Ensure vendor is keeping incident and problem records up-to-date
  • Ensure vendor keeps all technical and non-technical documentation up-to-date. Accountable for the accuracy of configuration items and documentation relating to the database services
  • Manage service reports describing current status of vendor provided managed services.

 

Experience & Education

  • Customer Service orientation with a strong bias toward action
  • Leading database support team, and managing delivery of database services
  • 8+ years’ experience in Database and infrastructure technologies, and an understanding of their architecture
  • Expert level experience with Oracle, Exadata, MS SQL and other Database technologies
  • 3+ years’ experience vendor management
  • ITIL process maturity measurement and improvement
  • Experience with implementing and managing DBaaS, IaaS, PaaS and Cloud Integration
  • Flexible in working outside of core business hours at short-notice
  • Good understanding of Oracle and Microsoft technology stacks, including awareness of cloud computing architecture.
  • Understanding of technical IT issues to enable discussions with internal and external technical specialists

 

Desirable

  • Experience using Service Now
  • ITIL Certification
  • Experience working with geographically distributed and remote teams.
