As the Director of Procurement Strategy, you will report directly to the Senior Vice President Procurement and be responsible for:


  • Supporting the SVP Procurement to develop and deliver a 'best in class' procurement function
  • Leading procurement transformation (process, governance, structure, organization, etc.)
  • Ensuring the entire Procurement function has the tools and resources it needs to regularly deliver on ambitious savings targets
  • Thought leadership on creating and executing category, vendor and sourcing strategies
  • Supporting the procurement organization to develop a best in class vendor management system, including effective approved vendor system, supplier performance management and feedback as well as commercial contract management
  • Implementation of an effective demand management pipeline
  • Effective partnering with internal business units
  • Effective partnering with strategic suppliers
  • Increasing spend under management (currently cover about $4.5b of total possible $9b external spend)
  • Identification of incremental cost-saving and cost-reduction opportunities
  • Identification of business process outsourcing opportunities

  • Creating a talent management process in coordination with HR to ensure that the right resources are in place

  • Managing the skills and competency development of procurement staff, including training development and knowledge management capabilities

  • Develop and manage external relationships with industry peers and others to benchmark performance
  • Development of internal dashboards, benchmarks and scorecards to be used for continuous improvement
  • Think out-of-the-box to deliver concrete margin improvement for the CFO


The Successful Applicant will have some combination of the following qualifications:

  • 10 years+ sourcing experience
  • Degree educated or above
  • Background in transformation or Strategy Consulting
  • Experience in procurement is desired but not essential
  • Team management experience
  • Strong communication and influencing skills
  • Strong leadership skills

  • Team player at executive levels to collaborate with business units and functional partners like IT, finance, HR, legal, etc.
  • General business skills and negotiation savvy
  • Working knowledge of finance and/or accounting (e.g.  terms of budgeting, cost management, financial accounting, treasury, risk management, etc.)
  • Excellent communication skills and even better listening skills
  • Ability to understand the company culture and how to best communicate procurement’s value to it

  • Ability to “sell” procurement’s value and to run procurement as a services business like any other well-run professional services business
  • In-depth knowledge of sourcing and procurement principles and best practices, but doesn’t have to come from within procurement 

  • Strategic mindset and problem-solving skills

  • Change management skills
  • Analytical mindset as well as creativity to seek, encourage and find non-traditional approaches
