The Event Technician is responsible for the overall technical operation of events, both internal and external for Rogers Communications.  This day-to-day hands-on position will be based out of 333 Bloor St. campus.  In-house facilities include a well-equipped 225-seat theatre and several large meeting spaces in the Toronto and Brampton campuses. 

 

Executing over 300 events and townhalls each year, this busy position is perfect for a highly skilled, multi-disciplinary technician who has had 5+ years of experience in the technical production of live events, with a focus on corporate clients.  As an integral member of small, but eager team, this position will take lead on many key executive events.

 

Webcasting and online-collaboration is a focus at Rogers.  This position requires an advanced working knowledge of the broadcast tools and online platforms used to create successful and engaging collaborative events.

 

Learning new tools, processes, platforms is a must, so a keen and curious attitude towards new technology is required.  Thriving in a dynamic corporate environment will be crucial to success.

 

What you will be doing:

 

Equipment and Resources:

  • Ensure all equipment on-campus and in road-kits is maintained in good condition.
  • Working with the Director, assess and evaluate new tools, hardware and software to aid in the successful execution of events.

 

Audio Skills:

  • Multitrack FOH and broadcast mixing using Avid/Venue and Protools.
  • Good knowledge of mixing for both live audience events, and online/broadcast audiences.
  • Good knowledge of wireless microphone systems.

 

Video/Presentation Skills:

  • Knowledge of webcasting, encoding and streaming protocols.
  • Advanced working knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite, especially Powerpoint.
  • Advanced knowledge of broadcast video workflow, cameras and switching, specifically Newtek tricaster and similar platforms.
  • Working Knowledge of Adobe Premiere, Photoshop and other editing and image tools.
  • Ability to troubleshoot many projection and presentation systems.

 

Networking and IT Skills:

  • Advanced working knowledge of network topology and protocols.
  • Ability to setup and troubleshoot wifi networks (Meraki) for events.
  • Proficiency with Apple and PC hardware and software

 

Collaboration and work skills:

  • Highly developed social skills to collaborate and communicate with all levels of the Rogers organization. 
  • Must be comfortable in high-pressure situations
  • Highly developed technical troubleshooting skills
  • Able to represent Rogers on-site at events
  • Able to manage relationships with vendors and partners

 

Scheduling and budgeting:

  • Working with other team members, ensure all events are accurately assessed, resources booked and staffing arranged.
  • Manage budgets for projects, in conjunction with event producers and other team members.
  • Ensure successful processing of vendor and freelancer invoices.

 

General items:

  • Other duties as assigned
  • Flexible work hours may be required (some evening and weekends)
  • Domestic Travel may be required
  • Ability to perform manual physical labour involved in setting up event production
  • Bilingual an asset but not mandatory.
  • Drivers License required
