This is a full-time appointment from August 21, 2017 to June 29, 2018, with opportuni- ties for continuing employment.

Basic Qualifications:

The successful candidate will hold a valid BC Teaching Certificate in good standing and possess an array of professional development certificates.

Related experience:

Promote high expectations and academic achievement for all students in a safe and nurturing environment

Recent successful elementary teaching experience

Experience with Readwell; Nelson Literacy, Saxon Math, and Math Makes Sense, and Reading mastery, would be an asset

Knowledge and experience with Dibels Assessment Benchmarking

Ability to incorporate innovative ideas and creativity in the classroom

Differentiates curriculum expectations and teaching strategies to meet the needs of all students

Ability to engage students in a positive learning environment

Manage student behaviour in the classroom by establishing and enforcing rules and procedures consistent with the rules and disciplinary systems of the school

Have the experience and the abilit y to infuse Gitxsan Culture/ Language into the curriculum

Experience and knowledge with special needs students and particularly those demonstrating language delay and behavioural needs

Flexibility to work on extra-curricular activities and personal performance skills

Exceptional interpersonal skills and particularly those related to parent / community involvement

Salary: Negotiable and is dependent on experience

Closing Date: June 16, 2017

Start Date: August 21, 2017

Probationary Period: 3 months
