Labour Relations Assistant, R11, Schedule A, Regular, Full-Time - Vancouver
Salary: $41,803.67 to $47,295.99 annually
This position is excluded from union membership

The Liquor Distribution Branch is one of Canada’s largest distributors and retailers of beverage alcohol, generating a net income of approximately $1.03 billion on annual sales of approximately $3.16 billion in fiscal 2015/16. LDB has a workforce of approximately 4,000 full and part-time employees, operates 198 retail stores across the province, oversees the operations of approximately 220 Rural Agency Stores and has the role of wholesaler to approximately 700 private liquor retail outlets and 10,000 licensed establishments.

The LR Assistant provides administrative support to the Director, ER & OHS and three LR Advisors and coordinates all activities within the Employee Relations unit. This position is responsible for researching, gathering and compiling information as assigned by the Director. The LR Assistant composes or prepares various types of external, internal, and ministerial correspondence. Considerable judgement, tact and initiative are required to carry out tasks and projects as assigned by the Director, Labour Relations Advisors, and Executive Director and as requested by BCPSA Labour Relations Officers. This position deals with highly confidential, sensitive, employment related issues where the consequence of error is high.

To be considered for this position, applicants must clearly indicate that they have the following: 

Education/Experience:


Recent significant administrative/clerical experience with a minimum of 1 year recent related experience in a human resources environment or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.


Experience with reading, interpreting and applying documented information and seeking clarification when required.


Preference may be given to those candidates with successful completion of post secondary education related to Human Resources.


Knowledge:


Knowledge of basic human resource principles including legislation, regulations, policies, employment standards, and Collective Agreement provisions.


Knowledge of Human Resource Management Information Systems (HRMIS) and basic understanding of information technologies.


Skills/Abilities:


Demonstrated ability to work under minimal supervision and to organize workload to deliver under conflicting priorities.


Demonstrated ability to deal with confidential matters and clearly explain policies and procedures and to deal courteously, tactfully and diplomatically with others.


Excellent written and oral communication and inter-personal skills.


Demonstrated accuracy in working with numbers and processing of transactions.


Ability to work with standard office computer applications (MS Word, MS Excel and database applications).


Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.


Ability to proactively identify issues and to resolve matters to prevent further occurrences.
