Reporting to the Director, Human Resources, Network, the HR Manager will support the Network team located at 8200 Dixie Road, Brampton and regional offices across the country. 

 

This individual is responsible for providing strategic HR partnership to the Senior Leadership teams in Network while supporting the day to day operations of the business. The HR Manager will play a key role in developing the people strategy in partnership with the Director, Human Resources, driving HR initiatives in support of the People Plan. 

 

The Network business is comprised of approximately 2400 people across the country and includes a variety of functions including Wireless, Wireline, Network Operations; Technology, Development & Architecture, End to End Video Services; End to End Enterprise Network & Services; End to End Voice and Data Services, and Access Network Implementation. The Network business includes both non-unionized and unionized employees, represented by a number of employee associations and unions.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Establish and maintain strong relationship with members of the Network Senior Leadership team and teams below them, based on the demonstration of added value of the HR Function. Develop an awareness of business challenges and objectives to drive a proactive approach to Human Resources;
  • Actively partner with business leaders to support and challenge leaders’ thinking in achieving optimal outcomes related to talent and organization effectiveness;
  • Provide coaching and guidance on talent and performance management, employee & labour relations, workforce planning, recruitment, compensation and organizational development for both unionized and non-unionized employees and teams;
  • Drive the development of the next generation of leaders across all levels of the organization.  Facilitate talent review processes and ensure follow up activities are delivered. Ensure close alignment with Talent Acquisition regarding key workforce planning metrics;
  • Understand the pulse of the organization at all levels and act as a conduit back into HR and to senior business leaders;
  • Represent the HR agenda with the business, leveraging relationships and HR expertise to communicate strategic plan, reinforce Rogers’ Values and demonstrate alignment between HR programs, business objectives and Rogers’ values;
  • Oversee the administration of employee & labour relations and executive escalations. Identify key employee and workforce issues to drive organization change at all levels. Work with program owners to influence Rogers HR programs and process design to drive better solutions for the business; and,
  • Keep current with industry leading best practices, customize and apply as relevant.

 

Qualifications: 

  • Undergraduate degree in related field. Master's degree in business administration or HR an asset
  • 7-10 years progressive HR business partner experience
  • Experience with handling day-to-day labour relations activities, including grievance handling, arbitration preparation and working with internal and external counsel
  • Demonstrated ability to set and communicate a strategic vision, strong leadership capability
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to effectively influence and build strong relationships with multiple stakeholders and confidential/sensitive information
  • Proven ability to impact and influence at all levels of the organization to achieve optimal outcomes
  • Strong business acumen
  • Demonstrated ability working in a dynamic, fast paced and rapidly changing matrix environment
  • Ability to effectively network across a variety of HR and client teams to build solid relationships.
  • Capability and willingness to operate on both macro and micro issues
  • Sound analytical, problem solving and negotiation skills with an ability to understand broad complex business issues
  • Takes job responsibilities and business matters seriously but self less so
  • Sense of humour is a must
