CityNews is looking for an enthusiastic journalist with a positive attitude to fill the full-time position of Reporter on Breakfast Television. This position will report directly to the Supervising Producer in Vancouver.


• Develop the best local news content for Breakfast Television and CityNews in Vancouver
• On-air presentation of news stories in a live broadcast
• Ability to adlib under pressure and conduct live interviews
• Accountable for quality control including on-air delivery of news and ensuring all news broadcast standards are met
• Research and generate daily story ideas - with a focus on enterprising, unique and original content for all platforms
• Generate, research, write and produce compelling news stories
• Write news stories for broadcast and digital purposes
• Support other Rogers brands as required
• Assign and liaise with other news reporters, editors, camera crew and producers with respect to content and story development
• Meet audience information needs, striving to increase viewership
• Proficient with social media and digital content
• Other duties as required


• A creative vision and keen editorial judgment
• Excellent knowledge of local, regional, national and international news and current affairs
• Five years experience working as a TV news reporter or producer
• Degree or diploma in journalism or broadcasting
• Valid Class 5 B.C. Driver's License and a clean driving record
• Superior writing skills for broadcast and digital
• Excellent presentation and communication skills
• Proven organizational and interpersonal skills
• Shooting and editing experience an asset
• Proficient computer skills
• Knowledge of Inception, Ross and Quantel software or similar newsroom software is an asset
• Strong community contacts would be an asset
• In-depth understanding of the station's content priorities and philosophies
• Proven record of working in a team atmosphere
• Work well under pressure and consistently meet deadlines
• Must be available to work a variety of shifts, including early mornings and weekends
