Job Summary:      

Our team of Caregivers assist clients with developmental disabilities to live successfully in residential settings while ensuring that our clients’ physical, emotional social, educational, medical needs are met. They assist clients to enhance quality of life with a multitude of activities of daily living. Multiple residential locations.

Key Responsibilities:    

Assess clients to determine the client’s interests and skill related to employment.

Develops, with clients, Employment Plans and as required Job Site Training & Support Plans, to enable the client to meet his/her employment goals.

Provides training, supports and instruction to clients in varied work settings in the community.

Locates potential employers and matches job placements to the client’s interests and abilities.

Assists employers to work with the client through orientation and education, and promotes the development of natural supports at the job site.

Provides ongoing follow up of placements, employer relations, problem-solving, trouble-shooting, etc.

Required Qualification

Certificate in a related human / social service field.

Minimum one (1) year experience working with behavioural need individuals or equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Experience and knowledge in the area of behavior management and/or Crisis Intervention training At least 6 months experience supporting adults with autism

Current CPR and First Aid certificate

Class 5 Drivers License (no restrictions)

Criminal Record Check

Skills and Abilities:

Experience and knowledge of residential services (including personal care, feeding and medical care)

Experience in supporting adults with developmental disabilities to participate in community based programming

An interest in supporting adults to communicate using augmentative communication

Ability to maintain documentation (e.g. client logbooks)

Additional Information:

This position requires Union membership.

Hours: Full time, Part time and casual. All shifts

Wage rate: Starts at $17.47 per hour plus benefits (dental, extended health, LTD, Municipal Pension Plan)
