Coastal Community Credit Union is the largest financial services organization based on Vancouver Island and the Gulf Islands and serves over 110,000 members and clients through its 23 branches, 16 insurance offices and 4 business centers. Coastal Community is committed to improving financial health, enriching lives and building healthier communities. We are seeking to fill the position of Senior Business Relationship Manager within our Commercial Division.

Reporting to the Regional Manager, Commercial Services, the Senior Business Relationship Manager is responsible for focused and proactive business development activities in the small to medium size enterprise market, to enhance the growth and profitability of the commercial loan portfolio. In addition, this position will manage an assigned portfolio of accounts and will be a resource for and assist in the coaching and mentoring of employees in developing member relationships, building rapport, creating awareness of business development opportunities and an understanding of our suite of products and services, with all our business lines. Primary responsibilities include: business development; monitoring and reporting; and financial performance and risk management.


The successful candidate must have a degree in Business Management or relevant post secondary education or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Additionally our preferred candidate will also have:


Proven business development and marketing experience in a commercial lending environment. 


A minimum of 7-10 years of commercial lending experience in progressively advanced roles, including real estate project/financing


Proven knowledge of all aspects of Commercial Lending. 


In depth knowledge of accounting principles and financial statements, including cash flow analysis. 


In depth business and financial industry knowledge. 


Previous experience in a management role dealing with multi channel divisions and building external relationships through Sales and Service conversations and introductions. 


Previous experience in Coaching, Leadership and Mentorship roles to develop branch leaders and business relationship opportunities. 


A minimum of 7-10 years of experience in leadership and mentorship roles with cross culture exposure and a strong understanding and working knowledge of multiple products. 


Solid understanding and proven knowledge of all business lines and products of Coastal Community, including Retail, Commercial, Insurance Services and Wealth Management. 


Advanced knowledge in creating opportunities across divisional lines in markets where we currently do business and have real or perceived gaps.


The will be able to develop collaborative, positive working relationships with both internal and external stakeholders and will be a team player. This individual will also be a self-learner with high motivation to engage in continuous learning and self-development opportunities.
