Rogers is seeking a Big Data App Support to support Big data environment, applications and services in both physical & virtualized environments.  Reporting to the Sr. Manager Big Data Operations at the Rogers Park Brampton Campus, this role will be responsible for Supporting and maintaining the big data applications.




What You’ll be Doing:

•Provide on-call assistance for the Hadoop/Big Data jobs and related problems
•Perform problem determination and resolution
•Perform application optimization by working with developers, customers and system support personnel
•Coordinate with the Vendor team for supporting job schedules and recovery
•Provide support for Hadoop's daily operations   to ensure the delivery of timely, accurate and reliable data to business users. This includes monitoring processes, updating/maintaining the appropriate system documentation, identifying potential problems and implementing solutions to ensure the efficiency and reliability of the operations.
•Maintain the production environments by monitoring their performance to ensure functionality, integrity and security of the environments and compliance with the information security and change management processes. Identify and troubleshoot problems as they arise which may involve interacting with other areas within team for resolution.
•Monitor and administer automated and manual data integration jobs to verify execution and measure performance.
•Provide technical assistance, advice and guidance to other team members and business users in response to enquiries on the functionality of applications, and data in Enterprise Big Data Environment to ensure efficient and un-interrupted   services to the business users.
•Candidate should be conversant with Hadoop Hortonworks Ecosystem and maintain the best practices.
•Drive any Hadoop development efforts within the team
•Restore system continuity by contributing to incident and disaster recovery
•Maintain Rogers standards for application and workflows implementations and service
•Provide optimization recommendations through historical analysis
•Increase application reliability and availability through process improvement

What You need to Have:


•A college or university degree in computer science or related experience
•Strong understanding of SDLC and Agile Methodologies.
•Hadoop Developer or Administrator certification (Hortonworks preferred)
•5+ years of production experience in Software development and SDLC
•5+ years of production programming experience with Java, Python or other languages
•Experience in creating scripts/processes to automate production systems
•5+ years of experience developing Unix/Linux applications
•Strong experience in object-oriented design, development and working knowledge of SOA
•In-depth understanding of Hadoop technology stack, including HDFS, YARN, MapReduce, Tez, Hive, Pig, Spark, HDF/Nifi and other components
•Good to have AWS experience
•Good to have Datawarehouse knowledge
•Minimum 1 year of production Hadoop experience. Hortonworks HDP 2.2 and above experience is strongly preferred
•Minimum 1 year of production experience developing Hadoop Big Data applications for ETL/ELT
•Minimum 1 year of production experience with Hadoop performance tuning, configuration, optimization, job processing
•Production experience with ETL tools such as Oracle ODI, Talend, Informatica, Control-M
•Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
•Excellent verbal and written communication skills
•Must be self-motivated and able to work both independently and with others
•Excellent interpersonal skills
•Excellent communication (written and oral) and presentation skills
•Experience in the communications industry
