We are currently seeking an unusually talented and highly versatile senior developer within the EBU Digital Technology team who lives and breathes HTML 5, CSS and JavaScript and either loves or is willing to try a long-term relationship with Angular.js or React.js, with a bit of dabbling in other JavaScript frameworks from time to time. You ideally believe that single page applications are the future of Digital and are eager to work with server-side developers to ensure they produce well designed REST services for you to consume. We strongly value deep technical skills, an eye for UI design and UX intuition, willingness to learn, and desire to work in an intensive, highly productive environment.


What we want you to do


Develop interactive web applications (in a CMS or single page applications) that include browse, shop and self-service functions and customer friendly capabilities.  A key responsibility is to use your creativity to produce highly responsive and enjoyable web-based user interfaces.  The customer should never be confused about what is happening or become frustrated because they don’t know what to do next.


This role requires technology and Business knowledge as you will be responsible for working with business stakeholders. The successful candidate will be proactive with strong organizational, problem solving, communication and relationship building skills.


Primary Responsibilities:


  • Creating highly interactive single page applications using Angular frameworks or React.js that respond to all user actions in fractions of a second
  • Creating attractive experiences in content management that delight and inspire the customer
  • Creating, maintaining, debugging and optimizing JavaScript, HTML and CSS
  • Taking an active role in structuring our single page applications to make them easy to maintain and to ensure they are highly modularized
  • Creating optimized HTML, CSS and JavaScript with breakpoints that work well on mobile browsers
  • Working closely the architects and back end services team to ensure that we have a useful set of REST services
  • Working closely with UX and UI designers to help them understand the constraints of single page applications and development frameworks so that they produce usable designs



  • A university degree in arts, design, engineering, science, math or computer science is highly desirable
  • Experience in JavaScript, jQuery, CSS 3, and HTML 5 and in optimizing for fast rendering
  • 5+ years experience in building mobile responsive pages with JavaScript frameworks
  • Experience in following industry’s best practices for designing highly UI and performance efficient web applications
  • Expertise in identifying performance bottlenecks across different browsers and devices
  • Knowledge of consuming RESTful Web-Services and parsing json media types
  • Experience with Social Media APIs (Facebook, Twitter, etc.)
  • Development using Scrum Agile methodologies is a plus
  • Experience in unit testing and e2e testing is plus
  • Demonstrated ability to create single page applications, either through prior experience, school projects or special websites you have built to showcase your skills
  • You truly love to code and build Digital experiences as evidenced by prior projects and experience
  • Strong organizational and estimation skills
  • Exceptional communications and presentation skills

  • Experience working with outsourced and offshore teams and able to work in hours that is in synch with the offshored teams
  • Strong understanding of entire development cycle, from concept to deployment and monitoring
