Steel Fabricator / Welder

Steel Fabricator / Welder required for full time position in Surrey, BC.

The successful candidate will have: A minimum of 5 years’ experience in the fabrication, assembly, welding and inspection of heavy structural steel components. An ability to perform work in a well-organized manner, follow established procedures and a possess a meticulous regard for the documentation of work and procedures.

This job requires physical strength to move heavy parts and a keen eye for precise detail. Careful attention must be given to heat distortion and weldments must pass non-destructive testing (NDT) inspections.

Salary is based on experience ranging from: $30-$36 /hr. Full benefits package after 3-months including: medical, dental and disability.

Candidate must be able to:

Read and follow engineering drawings including welding symbols and fit tolerances.

Weld in all positions with MIG and stick. TIG welding experience is an asset.

Work well in a collaborative team environment and take the lead role when required.

Familiarity with machining procedures and techniques and pre and post heat treating procedures such as: stress relieving, hardening etc. is an important asset.

Must have experience with forming techniques such as bending, rolling, breaking, stamping etc.

Proficiently operate acetylene torch and arc gauging equipment.

Other typical job duties include:

Daily inspection and setup of welding and cutting equipment and other required tools.

Examine work pieces for defects and gauge/measure work pieces with straight edges, templates or other measuring equipment to verify manufacturing tolerances and conformity to specifications.

Quality control pre-machined and formed raw material and parts before fabrication and welding.
