Position Summary

Reporting to the Department Chair, Access for Students with Disabilities, the Support Assist to ASD Department performs a variety of clerical and accounting tasks in support of the administering and monitoring of the Assistance Program for Students with Permanent Disabilities and Work Study Funds. Responsibilities include processing application forms, data entry, file maintenance, tracking of funds, report writing and communication with Department Faculty and Department Chair.

Duties and Responsibilities

Reviews Government and Internal application forms to assess student eligibility for financial assistance under APSD and Work-study. 
Data entry and tracking of application and funding information/disbursements as per internal guidelines. 
File maintenance of information as per Ministry Policy for APSD. 
Communication with Department Chair and Department Faculty with respect to the budget. 
Prepares and submits Ministry financial reports as required. 
Establishes and Maintains confidential student files.  

Required Education & Experience

Grade 12 plus completion of the 1st level of a recognized accounting program and related computer software application training. 
Minimum of 2 years of experience in a related clerical/accounting position. 
Experience in working with Adults with Disabilities would be preferred.  

Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

Knowledge/experience with microcomputers; Word and Excel, with accurate word processing/data entry skills, and advanced expertise in the development of spreadsheet applications. 
Training/experience using Colleague database an asset. 
Excellent Interpersonal, communication and organizational skills. 
Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
