Thompson Community Services

Thompson Community Services was created with a passion for providing quality community care for every individual.

In July 1983, as an initiative to move individuals with developmental disabilities into the community, the B.C. Government announced that the Tranquille institution would be closed by December 1984. At the time, Geoff and Joyce Robinson were working at Tranquille. Excited by the concept of community integration and the opportunity to oversee the provision of quality care, Geoff and Joyce went on to found Thompson Community Services.

After many years of successful operations, the Robinsons were ready to retire but wanted to pass Thompson Community Services on to someone who shared their commitment to providing individualized, quality care. In 2008, Bob Cornish, CEO of TCS, took over ownership of the company and began the process of expanding programs and services at Thompson Community Services. At the same time Bob has insisted that the provision of quality care remains paramount. Under Bob’s leadership, the TCS team has ensured that each individual has a program that is best suited to his/her current and future needs.

We are proud of our successful history - and look forward to our future – supporting individuals and families as we provide care with dignity and choices for life.
