The Web Producer will work as part of the Digital Media Operations team to develop, enhance, and grow our Rogers Publishing web properties and mobile applications for Broadcast properties across the country. The Web Producer will also help drive the evolution of our products and services, work with leadership teams and supporting businesses to help shape our road map moving forward, provide analysis of online audience metrics to internal and external clients, ensure best practices on the web, and push other initiatives to drive digital media objectives forward. This person will provide excellent communication and service to stakeholders, internal and external resources, and provide process guidance to ensure our success. This is an exciting opportunity to play a critical role in the growth of Rogers in the digital space.

 

What does a Web Producer do?

The Web Producer is the go-to expert on all things digital, with a focus on our products, services, and associated assets.

The Web Producer manages internal resources, provides guidance on content production, supports national / cross brand content and sales initiatives. We provide technical, conceptual, and historical knowledge to project teams as needed, and help drive product development. We represent Digital Media Operations with various team leads, stakeholders, and related businesses as needed.

 

What you will be doing:

- Maintain and help develop digital Broadcast properties

- Daily QA of all newly posted video assets on all broadcast entertainment websites

- Post deployment UAT of all websites / apps – all devices

- Light to Moderate Wordpress front end development

- Light to Moderate web design tasks

- Triage / debugging tasks for Wordpress

- Triage /debugging video playback issues within Brightcove and Wordpress

- Publishing video assets via Brightcove

- Publishing and editing Metadata on broadcast websites via Wordpress

- URL redirect maintenance within Wordpress

- Working with 3rd Party plug-ins and integrating them on Wordpress sites

- News-letter creation and maintenance tasks

- Other web production tasks as required

- Drive digital engagement and activity on websites and related social assets

- Prioritize and manage digital projects in extremely fast-paced environment

- Liaise with business leadership and supporting businesses on new initiatives and trends impacting our business

- Provide perspective and insight on the latest trends and best practices across digital media

- Contribute to overall user experience through quality assurance and user acceptability testing

- Help support various 3rd party applications and services

- Contribute to process and project documentation in Jira and Confluence

 

What you have:

- Post-secondary degree or diploma in digital media, or related experience

- 3 years of web production experience, preferably in a media environment

- 3 years experience managing Wordpress installations

- Experience publishing and debugging streaming video assets

- Extensive critical thinking & problem solving skills

- Extensive expertise with the latest social media tools and trends;

- Extensive experience with HTML and CSS with an emphasis on structure and current coding practices

- Solid experience with Adobe CC products, with a focus on Photoshop, Illustrator, and Premiere

- Solid knowledge of video creation, production, and distribution, across various platforms

- Basic knowledge of programming through flow charts, pseudo code, etc.

- Experience with JIRA and Confluence

- Experience with Sales Force Marketing Cloud Exact Target 

- Ability to understand and code HTML by hand 

- Online analytics suite experience (Comscore, Omniture, Google Analytics);

- Awareness of responsive design framework and infrastructure such as Bootstrap, Foundation, and CSS preproccesors

- Awareness and basic understanding of common programing languages like PHP, JavaScript, Perl, etc. is an asset

- Awareness of Exact Target AMP Script

- Awareness of SEO tactics, strategies, and successful executions

- Ability to work independently within tight deadlines, with a strong focus on achieving results

- Ability to effectively manage multiple tasks and/or projects at once and possess the ability to keep up with changing task prioritization without sacrificing quality

- Strong time management skills and interpersonal skills

- Experience with design best practices

- Excellent attention to detail (grammar, spelling) in both verbal and written communication
