Western Oil Services

Company

In business for over 65 years, Western Oil Services Ltd. has built a solid reputation for providing high quality service and support to our clients. From our earliest days of building and installing floatplane and land-based airport fueling systems in northern BC, Western Oil Services has leveraged our expertise to expand our service offering to meet the needs of our growing customer base. Our dedicated and knowledgeable team takes pride in the long term relationships we’ve established with our clients.

Our team of skilled technicians has decades of experience servicing a wide variety of industries including retail and commercial petroleum facilities (major oil companies and independents), municipal, provincial and federal government operations, retail/fleet vehicle wash facilities, marine, forestry and other industrial operations.

Expansion of Western Oil Services (Eastern) Ltd

In 2013, Western Oil Services expanded into the Ontario market.

Western Oil (Eastern) under the leadership of professional engineer (P.Eng) John Zoratto is primarily focussed on the installation of fuel systems for back-up power generating systems. Clients include Banks, Data Centres, Telecommunication businesses and the owners of Office Towers.

The growth of city-core office and residential development has out-paced electrical grid capabilities putting huge stress on the systems. The proliferation of data storage and the continuity of energy demand for digital systems has placed more demand on the effectiveness and capacity of back-up power systems.

Global warming has caused violent weather patterns which can take out the electrical grid for longer and longer periods of time. Case in point, the flooding in Calgary several years ago took out electrical power in the downtown core for up to six weeks for some buildings. Without adequate fuel storage capacity and/or supportive fuel delivery contracts, some property-managers watched in horror as generators shut down and water pumps suddenly failed to reverse the water inflow to the lower levels of many buildings. This also compromised emergency health and safety networks.

Mitigation of this emerging risk to the welfare of certain businesses has been met with plans to upgrade back-up power systems including fuel storage capacity. This in turn has attracted improvements in environmental codes as well as health and safety regulations.

While Western Oil has been dealing with this for many years in British Columbia, we noted that there was an opportunity for us in Ontario, particularly downtown Toronto.

Our team of engineers in Toronto effectively handles complicated designs, quotes and Technical Safety and Standards Association (TSSA) requirements for the team of six experienced technicians.
